Step 1 · Before You Commit
Four free checks before you sign anything.
These take minutes on county websites and they are the difference between a good move and an expensive surprise.
Step 2 · The First Two Weeks
Set up the household in this order.
Utilities first. Most Kingman homes use UniSource Energy Services for electric and gas, and the City of Kingman for water and sewer where city service runs; rural properties may mean a well, septic, and propane instead. Line up start dates before the truck arrives. The full question list is in the utility setup checklist.
Then the state paperwork. Arizona gives new residents a limited window to register vehicles and get an Arizona license. Start at Arizona MVD. If you have school-age kids, contact the district early about enrollment documents; the school move checklist covers what offices usually ask for.
Then the house itself. Get the HVAC system looked at before your first summer. Kingman heat is serious and good HVAC companies book out as June approaches. For any repairs, check the contractor’s license first; it takes two minutes on the AZ ROC checklist.
Need a local contact for any of this? The directory lists Kingman-area HVAC, movers, storage, inspectors, and more. Free to use, no referral fees.
